District Nurses

The district nurses visit patients who are unable to attend the surgery. The district nurses are:

Health Visitors

The health visiting team is lead by Janet Dunmore.

Our health visitors are based at Knaresborough Road and are available for our practice members.

You can see a health visitor at the practice on a Wednesday afternoon by calling Reception and making an appointment. Health Visitors are also available by calling Knaresborough Road Health Centre on 01423 557250. Or by visiting them at one of the Sure Start Centres.

Community Midwife

The Midwives run a clinic every Tuesday and Wednesday at Mowbray Square. There is also a drop-in clinic Wednesday afternoon at Woodfield School (2.00-3.30 pm).

Otherwise they are based at Harrogate hospital and can be contacted via 01423 885959 and asking for the Midwife.

The community midwives also run a clinic at Mowbray Square on a Monday morning for 1st midwife appointments. Please notify the surgery as soon as you find out you are pregnant so that we can get you booked in with the midwife asap.

Harrogate Hospital has recently introduced a new early screening programme for Down’s Syndrome which includes measurement of nuchal fold thickness on ultrasound at around 12 weeks. This means that it is important that you arrange to see your GP as soon as you find out you are pregnant so that you can get information about the screening and make an early appointment to discuss the testing with a midwife, ideally at 6-7 weeks of pregnancy.
